Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a 2001 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Karan Johar. The film was written by Sooni Taraporevala, based on her novel of the same name. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles. The movie is set against the backdrop of the Indian Film Industry in Mumbai during the 1970s to 1990s and follows two parallel family sagas across three generations as they deal with their respective social and economic problems The first part of this article is about what this movie has to offer. The movie begins with an interview of an aged man named Gulshan Rai (Anupam Kher) who is on the set of a film,which was produced by him on his father.He recollects his childhood days when he cheered up his Dad after he came back home from the office one day,in which he received many harsh comments about the film he produced on his father. The movie is a story of a joint family where the father Gulshan Rai (Amitabh Bachchan) and his wife Aarti (Farida Jalal) have three sons, Raju (Zayed Khan), Kumar (Divyendu Sharma), and Bakula (Saurabh Shukla). The sons are not well-balanced since they do not agree with their parents' extra marital affairs. The trio also blames their mother for not giving them proper attention. Aarti dies of cancer during this time,but does not leave the house before she sees her husband take their newborn baby girl away with him to live in Bombay. Raju and Kumar, her two older sons, feel betrayed by their father for leaving their mother alone during her last days. They both decide to fulfill their mother's dream of making a film and decide to live and work in Bombay with the help of Raja (Ajay Devgn), a friend of Aarti. Raja was deeply in love with Aarti, but is unable to tell her. Twenty years later we see Raju is now a producer in Bombay (Raju Rai) and Kumar is his assistant director (Kumar Rai). Raju also meets his old friend Raja (Ajay Devgn) and is shocked to see that he has married his former wife Aarti (Kajol). He finds out that the reason Aarti left them in Bombay was due to her infertility due to cancer. Raju, who has an instant bond with his sons, tries to make them understand that they cannot live in Bombay because of their family issues. Meanwhile, the three brothers are confronting their father over his affair with another woman, Kareena (Shakti Kapoor). They ask for a divorce but he refuses. cfa1e77820
